Why, a sandy date, of course! Actually, the UAE (United Arab Emirates) of which Dubai is a part, are not particularly rich in oil. The leader of Dubai has wisely chosen (in my opinion) to make his country something of an exotic gateway into the Middle-East, giving his little country an economic resource based not entirely on oil. Which may even prove smarter as an organic substitute(ethanol) for fuel will be hitting the markets in the next decade or so.

I wonder what they would give away with an apartment if their economy was based on sand and dates instead of oil?
