There has been an increase in road and car bombs in Kirkuk over the last several months.  Today, I found out why. Last year, it was cold.  This year it is wet in Winter.  We had some crazy wind storms that knocked everyones satellite dishes off their hooches and ponds and mini-lakes appeared everywhere.  And mud, lots of mud. Frogs like this appear, full grown, in our driveway.  I must believe that they are "hibernating" in the mud for months, waiting for the wet season, when they dig themselves up. Since I was here last they added fridge with milk and soda, treats, and an indoor TV room.  Nice!  For the longest time it was always a battle for a spot to rest from the elements. What a difference, even since I came through the Baghdad International Airport 4 months ago! It almost looked like a real airport…inside.  It was clean, baggage handlers working, ramps were back up, even a cafeteria!  And there were even more Arabic people traveling. Another victim of IEDs.  All the soldiers got away, though.  How many times have I heard, “it barely missed me”?
